How We Met
In her words:

Upon arriving in Calgary I landed a job at Melrose Café and Bar on the 17th avenue. Its proximity to the downtown office district made it an attractive spot for ‘suits’, like Jeremy, to have drinks after work. I am still not sure if it was the Grey Goose vodka I was serving him or my bleach blonde hair, but Jeremy had taken notice of me.

After our Melrose encounter, a mutual friend of Jeremy’s and mine posted pictures of a group of us at a staff BBQ on Facebook and Jeremy was quick to react. A few Facebook pokes later and we became friends. I must admit, the cyber creeping was mutual. It did not take long for us to establish our first date. Location: The Calgary Zoo….

If you know Jeremy than the following will not surprise you one bit. Envision the following:

  A. A black truck pulls up in front of my apartment building

  B. Inside sits a guy decked out in a three piece suit

I had no choice but to poke fun, “I thought we were going to the zoo?” My first thought was that this was just another pretentious male, but fortunately I was wrong. And in his defense, we had chosen to go on our date on a workday and Jeremy had come straight from the office (At least that was his excuse, haha).

We walked and talked for hours and got ourselves lost in the Canadian wildlife sanctuary (Or Jeremy pretended to be lost). As our afternoon continued, it began to heavily rain and Jeremy was the least bit worried about ruining his suit. We both did not want this date to end.

Upon the conclusion of our Zoo date, Jeremy proceeded to ask me to accompany him to a special EVENT the following evening. I initially said no (A lady has to play hard to play hard to get) but I eventually gave in to his invitation. Later that evening, Jeremy made a point to emphasize that the event would be formal but jeans would suffice.

Friday night soon arrived and I had intense butterflies in anticipation for our second date and this BIG EVENT. I put on my favorite gold BeBe shirt, some jeans, and my stilettos. I was looking fabulous and feeling fantastic. Jeremy arrived and my excitement for the evening blurred my vision to the point I did not even realize that he was slightly under dressed for this function. Upon a short drive, we finally arrived. I soon realized that we had pulled up to an ARENA! The EVENT turned out to Jeremy’s senior men’s lacrosse game. As Jeremy went to prepare for his game, I was left to pre-drink with the wives of the player’s in the back of a pick-up truck in a parking lot overlooking Deerfoot Trail (Each of whom was wearing running shoes, sandals, and lu lu outfits). To make matters worse, Jeremy’s friends were finding and vocalizing exceptional humor in my outfit and the circumstances under how I came. Jesse Foster made special point by yelling “I LOVE GOOOOLLLLLLDDD” throughout the duration of the game.

I was terribly embarrassed and felt out of place and I thought to myself, “This nightmare will never end”. I still wonder how Jeremy was able to convince to stay. I realized right then and there that we would be destined for a great, albeit random, adventure.

Sure enough, here we are, preparing for our wedding day.
